Partnership with Sibley Bike Depot gets participants moving! Bike Library loans will enable transportation for program participants.
Goodwill/Easter Seals is excited to announce a new partnership with the Community Partners Bike Library this summer. Transportation often acts as a major barrier to employment access, community engagement and self-sufficiency. Bikes can expand individuals’ transportation options, save them money and increase their physical activity. The Community Partners Bike Library aims to educate and empower people to use bikes as transportation while helping to build a sustainable environment and community.
This partnership with the Bike Library, a service of Sibley Bike Depot, will allow Goodwill/Easter Seals to offer fully-equipped bikes for 6-month loans to low-income participants free of charge. An emphasis will be given to community members traditionally less involved in the bike and transportation movement, including communities of color, women and immigrants.
Clients signed up for the Bike Library program will be provided, free of charge:
- A refurbished bicycle with rack, fenders, lights, lock, helmet and mike map for up to six months.
- Classes in safe cycling and bike maintenance to support using the bicycle.
- Support in getting a bike for continued use after the 6-month loan period is over.
