Fendler Patterson Creates a Skills Training Scholarship Fund

In 2004, when general contracting firm Fendler Patterson Construction began working with Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota, President Robert Fendler and Vice President John Patterson understood they were helping create a retail store. The more time they spent on the project, the more they learned about the services Goodwill/Easter Seals offers and the thousands of people the organization serves each year. Fendler Patterson soon wanted to do more to help.

Besides remodeling 13 Goodwill retail stores over the last eight years, Fendler Patterson has gone above and beyond what one might normally expect of a business partner: they donate goods, volunteer their time and underwrite major projects to support Goodwill/Easter Seals’ mission. In 2011, we honored Fendler Patterson as our Business Partner of the Year. In 2012, Fendler Patterson honored us with an impactful gift: a scholarship fund to help the people we serve.

According to Rob Fendler, “One of the most impressive programs that Goodwill/Easter Seals offers is Skills Training. People can learn practical skills in different fields, from construction to banking. When we heard there was a waiting list for people who want to enroll in Skills Training programs, we were honored to make the lead gift establishing a Skills Training Scholarship Fund.

In fact, they felt so strongly about the important work that Goodwill/Easter Seals does that they asked their business partners to contribute, too. In all, Fendler Patterson and their generous business partners raised $50,000 for the Fendler Patterson Skills Training Scholarship Fund, ensuring that Goodwill/Easter Seals can prepare even more people for WORK. Thank you to all who contributed!
