Just over three years ago, Shelley was unemployed, homeless and a single mother of three children. Following treatment for addiction, Shelley was ready to get back into the workforce. She began a bank and finance skills-training program through Goodwill/Easter Seals. Following her training, Shelley secured a job as a teller with U.S. Bank. "They wanted to take a chance on me. They saw me as a worthwhile person," remembers Shelley. Today, Shelley is able to give her children a safe, comfortable home and she truly enjoys going to work each day.
As a state leader in preparing people for work, Goodwill/Easter Seals helps put people to work by providing training and support necessary to achieve their employment goals. With financial support from the community, we help thousands of people who work hard every day to overcome barriers to employment and self-sufficiency, barriers such as mental illness, disability, unemployment and lack of housing.
