Advocacy for Minnesotans who need it most
Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota and its partners advocate for people struggling to achieve independence. We are committed to finding solutions to fund critical programs such as our Skills Training Programs for people like Christie. We maintain a strong belief in the transformative power of work to change individuals, families and communities. We provide services to individuals who have any number of barriers that prevent them from achieving their goals. All of our services are offered at no cost to eligible program participants. Solutions for families living in poverty revealed
Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota, Ramsey County Workforce Solutions, and the Minnesota Department of Human Services hosted a day of discovery and unveiled leading-edge solutions for families living in poverty.
The Minnesota legislature adjourned for the year
It was a busy and productive session as a number of our priorities moved forward, become law and/or received additional funding. Goodwill/Easter Seals Minnesota officially participated in three days on the hill (Second Chance, Disability Tuesday and Mental Health) bringing 130 people to the capitol and meeting in-person with 36 legislators. We sent two action alerts (Ban-the-Box and Charitable Deduction, below) leading to a total of 247 people making nearly 500 legislative contacts! These are significant numbers that bring important issues to the attention of decision-makers. For details on legislation and funding that we were following during this session, please read Results of 2013 Legislative Session.
