"Goodwill helped with the blanket and baby and fabric for the bonnet."
"Found a white shirt and a silky long night gown for her corpse outfit at Goodwill. Also some fake blood that was splattered on it for an spooky effect."
"Black Mask is a villain from the Batman comic world. He dresses in neat clothes and as a college student I don't have too much money to spend. Goodwill helped me with my costume by providing the clothes I need, jacket, dress pants, tie, etc.,at a very affordable price so I could make a costume to be proud of."
Charlie's Angels Revisited
Emily N
"We needed affordable costumes for a party and people often tell us we remind them of Charlie's Angels. We needed some 80's looking clothing and bought some jeans and a shirt jacket. We also picked up some "Big Sexy Hair" product which we found you need to pull off the 80's hair! You never know what you will find at Goodwill which makes it an adventure!"
"I found the dress, shoes, skirt at our local Goodwill. The dress was a great find because she will also wear it for Christmas"
.
"I stopped at the Goodwill in Maple Grove and found a wonderful shiny men's black pants with a matching black jacket. I then found a pair of shiny black shoes. I incorporated a black and lime green hat and hair we had at home and painted a skelton face on my son which he wore a lime green shirt and a skelton on his shirt. and lime green and black gloves...it turned out amazing!!!!!!"
"I recently moved into a new home and funds are tight. I heard on the radio about the Halloween costumes and decorations and felt it necessary to find a good deal. Over all I spent nearly a quarter of the amount of money had I purchased a new costume from a Halloween specialty store. It felt great to save money, and still look fantastic, and it really makes me feel extra great knowing that I created this costume myself, and helped in the cycle of recycling!"
"1.My turban is a gold shower curtain. 2. My turtle neck. 3. My shawl is two pillow cases pinned together."
"I found the vest, pants, and shoes for my Fozzie Bear costume at Goodwill. Those three items played a large role in helping me achieve my Fozzie look. The only modification I made to those items was that I colored the ribbons on my shoes to match the polka dots I painted on my bow-tie. Wocka Wocka!"
"The really cool thing is, I showed up and you had everything I needed. I found a bunch of cool stuff, all in my size, at the same store. I bought everything but socks, undershirt, makeup, and hairbands at Goodwill. Thank you, GOODWILL!"
Gypsy
Jennifer B.
"I went into the store not having a clue what I was going to be, and I suddenly was inspired to be a gypsy. I purchased both of my skirts, my shirt, and the scarf I wore on my head from my local Goodwill store. I simply layered the skirts and tucked part of the top one into my waistband to create the angle. The rest of the costume I either had at home or purchased elsewhere."
"The store was open on Halloween day, had a great selection, and the staff were nice."
"I found a really cool coat, shirt, hat and tie at the Shakopee Goodwill. I went there with my mom and a bunch of my friends, we all bought things for our costumes there this year and we are all dressing as hobos."
"We bought the entire outfit there! Big overall bibs, a plaid shirt and a hankercheif!"
"We got some of the fabric from Goodwill and his hat."
"I purchased my earrings, shirt and skirt at Goodwill."
"My wife's costume is entirely from Goowill, head to toe. Mine: hat, jeans, shoes"
"I bought my dress, shoes, and belt at Goodwill."
"I appreciate my local Goodwill because I needed the clothes for each of my characters. The staff at the store were more than willing to help me pick out the items."
Pirates of Andover
Eny M.
"We found many pieces (hats, pants, shirts, scarfs) four all of our five (5) pirate custumes. We can always find exciting items for an affordable price."
"The dress was a great fit, although a couple inches too short, but that helps to walk in it without tripping. The hat has a veil that can be worn down or rolled up. The black nylons and shoes round out the wardrobe. Seen is finished with a broom handle and a couple of witch cats."
"I found the Black floppy hat, the plaid shirt, black tennis & the bib overalls all at the Goodwill. I created the scarecrow costume with extra accessories."
"Goodwill helped me with my costume by giving me access to affordable clothes to use for my scarecrow costume. Not only did I find the jeans, the flannel, the undershirt and the hat at Goodwill for a fraction of what I would have paid elsewhere, i can use the times for more than a costume."
"I wanted to be a Zombie that has risen from the grave. So I wanted some formal looking clothes I could afford to rough up and get a little dirty. I bought the suit jacket, button up white shirt, the tie and some black slacks (slacks not in picture) at the Goodwill in Roseville, MN. I used a scissors to rough up the edges of the tie and the sleeves of the shirt. I pulled some threads from the the shoulder seem of one arm to create the torn look. Finally I used a steal brush to make the jacket look worn. And I also used some fake blood for the scary effect along with makeup to make my face look pale. With all the different clothes you can find at Goodwill / Easter Seals you could be any type of Zombie you want to be!"
"WELL I FOUND ALMOST ALL OF THE ITEMS I NEEDED. I LOOKED ALL OVER TOWN COULDN'T FIND A THING, UNTIL I WENT TO GOODWILL. IT WAS AMAZING HOW MUCH I FOUND IT WAS SO AWESOME. I LOVE IT!!!!"
"The Spin cycle is cood clean fun! I found a popcorn popper bowl at Goodwill-perfect for the door! I also used a kitchen timer purchased from Goodwill for the dial. I purchased an old handbag at Goodwill, removed the handles and attached them to an old detergent bottle to make my purse for the evening, or candy bag if you're going trick-or-treating. The rest of the costume is made from stuff I had at the house-a cardboard box for the base, tissue paper for water, clothes from my closet, and paper to make the controls and logos. Total cost=$6.47!!"
"Bought nearly everything at Goodwill. Found the "prisoner of Love PJ pants and "Working Mom" sweatshirt & came up with idea. Cut black dress pants in half & slide 1 leg over pj's. Pin, stitch-witch or sew in place. Cut blazer in half, pinned white dress shirt inside. Pinned blazer over "mom' sweatshirt. Added "Multi-tasking arms with accessories using a multi-holed belt found at Goodwill with coat-hanger wire arms inside of fun-noodle with mom accessories: frying pan, purse with to-do list, diaper, star-student certificates & kid hanging on leg. Working accessories: coffee cup, phone & envelope & "ball & chain". Hope I get the photo attached properly, no instructions for that."
"I"ve had this idea for a long time and thank goodness for the Goodwill stores, where else could you find so much vintage clothing along with wigs and other accessories, at such a great price. I purchased almost everything I needed for this costume at the Goodwill stores. I used a dress I found along with a pair of jeans, a vintage shirt and vest. Then I cut them in half and sewed them together. I used a long wig and cut half of it short and half of a glue on moustach."
"The short wool, plaid, zip, cape for Buddy was found in the women's section and gave us the idea to do a "Sherlock Hound" theme. We found a safari hat in the children's section along with a package of magnifying lenses in electronics. Dr. Watson shopped for a wool coat and topped it with another wool cape."
Three Blind Mice
“I bought the pants, button down shirt, sweater and overcoat for the costume at Goodwill. I made ears out of duct tape and attached them to a snowmobile liner that you would wear under your helmet. I then took a skinny dowel and painted it white and red at the end to resemble the matchstick used in the nursery ryhme for the mice's walking stick.”
"I first found a bunch of clocks. That's when I thought of "Time Flies", so I went to the costume section to see if I could find wings. I happened to find a costume that was missing the body part, but had the wings...perfect!!! Then I found a pillow to attach the clock to, so that I could hang it from my neck and make it stand out. I wanted to dress it up a bit, so I found a package of top hats and a pair of mini wings to wear on my head. Then I typed up a sign that says "Time Flies" so that people would know who I was."
"I scoured the racks until I found the "perfect" green tank top for my Tinkerbell costume. The top fit perfectly but since Tinkerbell wears a dress, I made it into a dress by using 2 other tops (also purchased at Goodwill) in coordinating shades of green then I added netting to give the skirt some body. I made rosettes for the bodice and also for my shoes (another Goodwill find). I love the way my costume turned out, I didn't spend a lot of money but it looks like Tinkerbell and is comfortable too!"
