Advocacy

"All labor that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence."

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

We believe all people have the right to work and regularly advocate on behalf of people with barriers to work and independence. Every year we make progress in advancing workforce-related public policy, engaging with over 100 elected officials on public policy objectives and participating in events at the state capitol. GES is a member of the MN Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities and the MN Second Chance Coalition.

Public Policy Goals

  1. Helping move individuals and families out of poverty and to economic self-reliance
  2. Reducing racial disparities, especially as they relate to employment in Minnesota
  3. Increasing access to services and independence for individuals with disabilities
  4. Encouraging community-based policies and practices that advance the nonprofit sector
