Goodwill-Easter Seals: Helping to create new starts

A note from the President.

We’ve probably all done it – at the start of a new year we resolve to make some changes in our lives. Join a gym. Clean out the closets. Start saving money.

It’s natural to look at a new year as a blank slate, a chance to make a new start.

At Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota we know a lot about making new starts. Every day we see our participants doing everything they can to overcome the barriers they face to work and independence so that they are able to make new starts in their lives.

We’ve all faced the challenges of making a new start. It takes hard work, perseverance and determination. There aren’t many things as personally rewarding as successfully making a new start in your life. But something that comes close is helping someone else make a new start.

For Goodwill-Easter Seals, nothing is more important, or rewarding, as helping our participants overcome the barriers they face so that they are able to make a new start.

Sylva is a great example. When Goodwill-Easter Seals entered her life, she was homeless, staying in a women’s shelter after experiencing domestic violence. Thanks to the job training and support she received from her Goodwill-Easter Seals counselors, her confidence and love of helping others has re-emerged.

2015 was a great year for Goodwill-Easter Seals. We were able to provide resources for 85,000 services which effectively eliminated barriers to work for 21,000 people – 21,000 new starts.

We’re excited about the blank slate offered by 2016. With the continued help of our donors, staff, business partners, volunteers and shoppers, it’s sure to be another successful year.

Thank you for your support. Have a great new year.
