Meet client Jen. She is the next in line to be a part of the Fashion Fix Client Style Challenge at Goodwill. Jen works for Target Corporate in downtown Minneapolis. Her wardrobe has gone through many changes, especially after having 3–5-year-old twins and a 2-year-old toddler. I know, right, busy household. Getting out the door for the office in morning needs to be easy, quick, yet still stylish. She is reporting to one of the most creative and fashionable offices in Minneapolis. So looking good and feeling good is a must!
We headed to the St. Louis Park Goodwill, and we were not disappointed! I showed her how to keep a business causal look with a professional flare. We focused on finding the right fit, fabrication and accessories for her. Here is how you can get Jen’s look.
Go for flowy.
Lightweight fabrics like silks and rayon give you a sophisticated look without much effort. These tops are easy to find in fun prints and colors. Layer in a single piece of jewelry and keep the shoe simple for a styled look.
Put a scarf on it.
Scarves have transcended being a trend and are now a staple in every woman’s wardrobe. This accessory is a great way to add interest and contrast to an outfit. On the solid top, we paired a bright printed scarf. On the striped silk tee, we layered a bright solid scarf. Both give that pulled-together look, especially when mixed with a long necklace.
I think sometimes we feel like a dress or skirt is going to be to dressy or too formal. Not true. I live in dresses most of the year because they are so easy to throw on and style with minimal effort. To keep this dress business casual, we opted for a great blazer and made to sure to roll the sleeves, giving it that everyday look.
Start seeing red.
I love a good red accessory, and you should too! A necklace, belt, shoe or even a handbag in the color red always adds just the right pop of style and color. We have the most basic outfit here in black and tan – but when we threw on the red beaded necklace we got a stunning look.
Be bold in a blazer.
Just like the dress or skirt, women sometimes feel ‘over dressed’ in a blazer. Simply not true! A good-fitting blazer is a must for any wardrobe. You keep it every day, and style is all about what you wear it with. We mixed these blazers with a tee and a simple white blouse. Keep it casual cool by rolling the sleeves and bringing up the collar. Great jeans and great shoes complete the look!
