Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota is strengthening efforts to help people with disabilities find jobs by taking the role of Market Lead for Pepsi ACT, simplifying the placement process by providing a single point of contact for applicants in the seven-county metro area.
Pepsi Achieving Change Together (ACT) is part of a national initiative with Disability Solutions @ Ability Beyond to recruit, train and hire individuals with disabilities.
Goodwill-Easter Seals’ Business Development Manager James Houston will serve in the role of Market Lead as a liaison to Pepsi’s Human Resources department to provide hands-on guidance for job applicants.
“The unemployment rate for individuals with disabilities is twice as high as the national average for adults. It’s important that we do everything we can to help,” said James.
While the Market Lead role focuses on filling positions with Pepsi in the Metro area, Pepsi ACT’s scope is national and extends outside the company. “We love for the people who go through our training to fill open positions at Pepsi. But the goal is to help job seekers find work anywhere,” said Kevin McClosky, Director of Partnership Development at Disability Solutions.
The Market Lead position strengthens our ability to help individuals with disabilities overcome barriers to work and independence. In 2015, 59% of our participants had one or more disabilities, underscoring the need for collaborations like this.
Job seekers interested in applying through the Pepsi ACT should contact James Houston.
