A note from the president

At Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota, we understand that everyone is unique.

In 2015, we helped 21,000 people reach their goals for independence and employment. Each was a unique individual facing his or her own particular barriers to work and independence.

When we start working with a participant, our first step is to understand what makes them unique through a comprehensive intake and assessment process. We discover their history, their goals and the barriers they face to work and independence. From there, we create an individualized plan of action.

Our assortment of core programs and specialized services allow us to create a customized strategy for each individual. Here’s Brandon’s story:

Brandon came to us through Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) after months struggling to find a job. He’s enthusiastic and determined, but his arthritis slows his pace of work. After receiving training and support through our Work Experience program, he was not only able to land a job at Cash Wise Foods in Willmar, in early 2016 he was named Employee of the Month.

Other types of barriers participants face can be transportation, language and homelessness. We’ve partnered with several local organizations, including YouthLink, the Heading Home Employment Collaborative and Hennepin County’s Office to End Homelessness to successfully place hundreds of homeless individuals into jobs.

We offer multiple solutions to the barriers our participants may face. Your support enables us to move one step closer to a world where everyone experiences the power of work.
