Valentine’s Day home decor

We’re only a few days away from Valentine’s Day which means it’s time for you to spruce up your home with lots of hearts and pretty hues! Expenses for home décor can easily add up, but they really don’t have to. If you opt for thrifty finds instead of buying brand new from the store, you’ll not only get more bang for your buck, but you’ll also get items with more character and charm as well!

On my latest trip to Goodwill, I set out to find some ideas for Valentine’s Day table décor for my dining room. Upon browsing the shelves, I managed to find my first pieces of inspiration – two tin pails. They were the perfect size and they were in amazing shape, all I had to do was wash them up a bit, and they were shining bright! With a little bit of tissue paper and some Valentine’s Day candy, they were the perfect addition to the little centerpiece I was planning.

Perusing further, I found a great silver serving platter that I knew would be a great base to the whole centerpiece. I didn’t even have to do any work on it, it was already perfect! And, right next to that was a shelf full of gorgeous vases. I scanned the vast variety of shapes and sizes and found a slim, tall vase that would fit with what I had coming together in my head. Now I just needed something to put in it!

Of course, they had a wide selection of faux florals, so I just had to find the perfect Valntine’s Day flowers which I think we all know is- roses! I found these great long-stemmed roses for a great price and they brought together the whole vision for my centerpiece!

Last but not least, I made a quick stop to the dollar store for the last few essentials. This included a couple small red candles and some glitter heart table confetti. All together, I spent under $15 for my little Valentine’s Day scape and I’m really happy with how it turned out! Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it required minimal effort on my part, no real DIY work necessary!

I also utilized items that I already had that weren’t Valentine’s Day themed to save a little more money on my décor. I already had the small chalkboard, the red table runner, and candy so all I had to do was make it look pretty.

As you can see, it’s easy to make a lovely (and thrifty) Valentine’s Day display for your dining room. All it takes is a little craftiness and little bit of time to browse your local thrift store! One item can lead to a whole table of inspiration, all you need to do is keep an open mind and see where it takes you!
