National Voter Registration Day is September 22, 2015.
Voting. It’s one of the most important things we can do as citizens. However, many of us don’t use this basic right and instead sit on the sidelines during elections. This is somewhat alarming when you consider that the ones who vote are electing the decision-makers. Even more alarming is that low-income individuals are less likely to vote than affluent individuals.
That’s why National Voter Registration Day – Sept. 22 – is an opportunity. An opportunity to connect with the people we serve and encourage them to participate in their civic duty. An opportunity to provide staff and volunteers with nonpartisan information so that they can be better informed voters. An opportunity to inspire full engagement in our political process.
National Voter Registration Day is the largest one-day effort of the year to register voters. It falls on the fourth Tuesday of September. This year, National Voter Registration Day is Sept. 22. Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota is excited to once again be part of a national effort to strengthen our community by registering voters on National Voter Registration Day.
But why register in 2015? Well, next year’s Presidential election is obviously going to be one of the most important of our lifetime. But in advance of that there are also many primary elections and local elections taking place. As a non-partisan coalition of organizations, National Voter Registration Day is the perfect opportunity to get involved no matter what party you support or which issues matter most to you. I invite you to join us!
On Sept. 22, Goodwill-Easter Seals will engage our stakeholders and community to register voters at the following events:
