EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TO PREPARE PEOPLE FOR WORK

Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota provides employment services for people with disabilities, disadvantages or other barriers to work. Through training, individuals gain skills, attitudes and work behaviors needed to assist them in finding and keeping employment. Our holistic approach takes into consideration the individual's needs, particularly those that affect their ability to obtain and maintain employment.

  • Job Development & Placement

    Job placement services assist people in finding employment at a sustainable wage. Services may include a combination of the following:

    • Skills assessment and counseling to examine options and determine a career path
    • Developing a job search plan based on the individual's skills and circumstances
    • Resource coordination to identify needs and available community resources
    • Job search preparation and assistance, from developing resumes, finding open positions, to developing answers to interview questions
    • Employment Readiness Training, a 16-hour course that trains and prepares people to navigate their job search

  • MN Family Investment Programs (MFIP)

    We offer employment and job placement services for individuals in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) living in Hennepin County and Ramsey County. This comprehensive employment support program includes:

    • Vocational and skills assessment services
    • Preparation and support for re-entering the workforce
    • Resume preparation
    • Interview preparation
    • Job search support
    • Employment support after starting work

  • Employment Development Services

    Employment Development Services (EDS), Work Adjustment Training (WAT) and Work Experience Training (WEX) are training programs for people with multiple economic, social and academic barriers to employment. Participants learn basic skills, attitudes and work behaviors necessary to obtain and maintain employment. Participants in the program:

    • Work with staff to build skills, set career goals and prepare for job search and future employment
    • Participate in a paid training and supervision in real, integrated work settings
    • Gain work skills in multiple vocations through our partnerships with community employers

    While in this program, participants may also take part in other services such as EDS training classes (St. Paul Campus only), computer training and Employment Readiness Training. Complete our online interest form or call 651-379-5800.

  • Post-Job Placement Services

    Goodwill-Easter Seals offers services to support individuals in advancing their careers after job placement:

    • Vocational assessment helps individuals identify strengths and interests to determine their goals for employment and education.
    • Employment Training & Education courses
    • Transitional employment programs train participants in skills needed to gain and maintain a job.
    • Job development and placement services assist people in finding employment at a sustainable wage.
    • Job coaching and follow-up services are provided as needed to assist individuals in succeeding in their workplace,

  • Enrolled Participant Support
    • Job support services include computer labs, English language learning classes, typing classes and other services that help ensure the success of participants
    • Family-strengthening services, such as support groups and parenting classes
    • Community resources: our staff members connect participants to community organizations that help solve common barriers to work, such as child care, work clothing or transportation.
  • Employment Training

    An industry-specific employment training program that helps individuals develop and expand skills needed to find and maintain employment. Graduates of these courses can also use our job development and placement services listed in the next section. To apply for ET&E training courses, you must first attend an information session to learn about our workforce development programs on either the second or fourth Tuesday of every month.
