On April 15, Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota (GESMN) hosted a “Spotlight Goodwill” event at the St. Cloud Goodwill store, celebrating the strength of community partnerships and highlighting the real-life impact of GESMN’s career services in the region.

More than 30 local leaders from St. Cloud and surrounding areas gathered for the event, connecting with GESMN staff, touring the store and program spaces and hearing firsthand how support from community partners helps create career opportunities for Minnesotans.

Community at the Center

Guests were welcomed with treats donated by Caribou Coffee and Cash Wise Waite Park, a reflection of the local generosity that fuels GESMN’s mission. Throughout the event, guests learned how career services are tailored to meet the needs of St. Cloud-area residents—ranging from job coaching and transitional employment to retail skills training and programming through the school district.

The event also recognized two community leaders—Mary Hackey from the St. Cloud Area School District and Todd Bissett from the Municipal Athletic Complex—for their long-standing commitment to empowering individuals through employment-focused partnerships with GESMN.

Career Support That Makes a Difference

GESMN’s impact in St. Cloud continues to grow. In the past year alone, GESMN has served more than 400 individuals in the area through employment readiness programs and youth-focused initiatives. In 2024, the FATHER Project expanded to the region, offering vital support for parents working to develop both career and parenting skills.

A Journey Toward Confidence and Employment

Laura, a participant in GESMN’s career services, shared her personal journey of resilience. After a traumatic brain injury disrupted her education, Laura turned to our programs to rebuild her confidence and restart her career path. With the support of her career navigator, Lynn, Laura developed strategies to manage anxiety and regain the stamina needed for the workplace.

“I am truly excited for this next step in my journey,” Laura said, looking ahead with hope and determination.
