Business partnerships are key to assisting people
“My job [at Medtronic] has brightened up my life since my accident,” John says.
John, pictured above, suffered a traumatic brain injury. He wanted to work. Goodwill/Easter Seals assisted him with finding the right job and maintaining that employment. Medtronic hired him.
His employer, Gayle Morstad, adds: “They support how well he does here. Goodwill/Easter Seals adds value to the employer and the employee themselves.”
Goodwill/Easter Seals cannot accomplish this mission apart from ongoing business and corporate partnerships. We need businesses, such as Medtronic, to hire the people we prepare for work.
Beyond hiring, many corporations and businesses also engage with us through volunteer programs, grants and sponsorships. Last year, Medtronic volunteers came to Extend Goodwill where they learned to make beautiful mittens from felted sweaters which were sold over the holiday season. Corporations and businesses are invited get involved in a variety of ways to support the important work of our organization. Here’s what some of the Medtronic volunteers had to say:
“It was an excellent volunteer project; we got the satisfaction of doing something very worthwhile. They tour was a very important part of the day and I highly recommend that to everyone. I am impressed with how well organized and clean everything was. The fact that you are training people to work is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT. Thank you for all that Goodwill is doing for the environment and also in training people. Very impressive!”
“I thought the emphasis on sustainability and reuse was wonderful and a leading practice. You are definitely ahead of the game in your facility use of materials and ‘lean’ practices.”
